Crystal River, Fl

William (Bill) Frederick Hassler, 84 passed away Sunday, December 28, 2025.

He was born in Brooklyn, NY on September 21, 1941. He was the son of the late William Frederick Hassler and Elizabeth M. Baden Hassler. Bill attended Good Shepard elementary school and graduated from James Madison H.S, in Brooklyn. He worked at the Brooklyn Navy yards, then joined the Steamfitters Union Local 638 in 1972 (B Book), then 1991 (A Book). Bill was a horse lover and owned many through his young years. He also was gifted in working with tools and welding. He never said no if someone needed a hand at plumbing or building things. He was a jokester at heart and made many people smile and laugh and loved by many. He will be terribly missed by all. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Joan, sister in law Adelaide Pagan, father and mother in law Wilson and Elva Pagan. Bill is survived by his wife Margaret Pagan Hassler, his brothers, Peter (Patricia) Hassler and John (Kathy) Hassler, his four children Michael Hassler, Peter Vega (Christine), Susan Higgins (Richard), William F. Hassler III. He also leaves behind his grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Amanda, Melissa, Alexis, Derek, Kimberly, David, and Peyton, as well as his brother in laws Wilson Pagan, Henry Pagan (Martha), John Pagan (Judy), and many nieces, nephews and friends. I want to give my thanks to Susan Higgins his daughter, who took on the responsibility of caregiver when I couldn't. As I watched her deal with every phase of his decline, I knew her dad was proud of how she cared for him. Bill was a resident of Cypress Cove Care Center in Crystal River, Florida for almost three years. There is no better care anyone could receive from a facility. He was taken care of by the best nurses and CNA's one could ask for until the bitter end.

Services will be in Middletown, New York. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to The Alzheimer’s Association or Cypress Cove Care Center
