Wanda June Purser

Wanda June Purser, 84, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2021, at Diamond Ridge Health and Rehab in Lecanto, Florida, having been under hospice care for the two weeks prior to her passing. Wanda was born on March 4th, 1937, in Steele, Missouri, the daughter of J.W. and Lola Stowe. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Bill Purser, who was her high school sweetheart. They both moved to Inverness 22 years ago from Florence, Alabama, after retiring.

Wanda graduated from the University of North Alabama in 1989, with a master’s degree, as a special education teacher, and worked as a hairdresser prior to that. She loved teaching and her students loved her. Even after retiring and moving from Alabama, several of her students still kept in touch with her.

After losing the love of her life in 2005, she went back to school and became a realtor, which she also loved doing. She also volunteered at Citrus Memorial Hospital and for the Citrus County Sheriff’s Department. She lived a very happy and full life.

She was preceded in death by one of her two daughters, Pamela Creighton, and one of her three grandsons, Eric Creighton. She leaves behind her daughter, Paula Richardson, her son-in-law, Bill Richardson, her identical twin grandsons, Jeff Creighton and Jeremy Creighton, and 5 great grandchildren. She will be missed dearly, but she left this earth knowing she was loved. There will be a private family service.
