Vernon Lee Mann (SNAKE), 53, Crystal River, FL, passed away January 21, 2018. He was the beloved son of Richard and Pauline Mann and soul mate to the love of his life, Lori Taeschner. He was born and raised in Grand Haven, Michigan and lived his childhood and young adult days in the country setting of Robinson Township with his parents. Vernon was a member of the Church of Christ in Grand Haven and was baptized into the church in his early teen years.
Throughout most of Vern's adult life, he worked primarily in the construction business. In 2003 Vernon relocated with his family to Crystal River, FL. For the last six years, he was employed with D.A.B. Constructors Inc. in west central Florida. He started with D.A.B. as a general laborer and quickly became a heavy equipment operator for them.
Vernon was an avid motor cycle enthusiast and was a member of the American Brotherhood riding club taking on his nickname of "SNAKE". He was proud of his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Vern and Lori would take many road trips with the club, riding all over Florida. Vernon was also a nature enthusiast and became particularly interested in the snake species of Florida. He first learned snake identification and then went on to become a licensed snake handler with Citrus County Florida and was able to help many people with unexpected guests at their homes by removing the snakes and relocating them into the wild.
Besides Vernon's parents and Lori, Vernon was also survived by: siblings: Ginger K Barrett and Ronald L Mann; children: Jeremiah L Mann, Krystal S Mathis and Damian L Mann and five grandchildren. He was also survived by his very special pet dog, Sarge.
A celebration of life for Vernon will be held at the Lecanto Church of Christ, 797 S Rowe Terrace, Lecanto, FL on Saturday January 27, 2018 at 11 am. There will be a luncheon following the service for friends and family. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service. The family requests in lieu of flowers a memorial donation be made in Vernon's name to the Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast, PO Box 641270 Beverly Hills, FL. 34464
