Thomas Lee Broome, Jr., 83, of Inverness, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026. Born on August 15, 1942, in Chickamauga, Georgia, Thomas was the son of Phoebe Sue Moore and Thomas Lee Broome, Sr. Tom worked as a painting contractor, working on commercial and residential jobs all over Florida. He found his greatest joy in the company of family and friends. His humor and witty personality brought laughter to all who knew him. A true jokester, he was often the life of the party. He also had a unique sense of humor when it came to food, enjoying ice cream topped with unusual additions like croutons, breadcrumbs, and beans. Music was always close to his heart, especially the timeless sounds of Elvis Presley and Hank Williams. He is survived by his loving wife, Janet Lynn Broome; his children, Kimber Lee (Stephen) Govett, Jennyfer Lynn (Anthony) Hatfield, and Melanie Noel (Matthew) Green; his sisters, Virginia Faye Watson and Erma Jean D’Alessio; and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Dakota Lee (Jack) Ferrel, Kassidy Jo (Owen) Bertelsen, Keirah Brianne (Jake) Bandstra, Alayna Rose Broome, Carrington Grace Hatfield, Tristan Anderson Hatfield, Kyleigh Rose Green, and Braelynn Rose Green, as well as his great-grandchildren, Masen Scott Bertelsen and Brooks Lee Bertelsen. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Norma Sue Eager. There will be no formal services. In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated.
