SHIRLEY J. (Pollack/Evans) FIRNROHR unexpectedly passed on Monday morning December 18, 2017. 


Born July 27, 1947 to Anthony and Irene Pollack, Sharon, PA, she is survived by her loving family: husband Ron Firnrohr (FL), and her sons:  Frank Evans (FL), Paul (Dana) Evans (WI), and Derek Evans (FL). Shirley is also survived by her mother Irene Pollack (OH), brother Anthony (aka Chook) Pollack (OH), sister Pat (Frank) Vendemia (OH), sister Linda (Joe) Violante (PA), along with step children:  Ron (Clare) Firnrohr Jr. (WI), Rob (Coleen) Firnrohr (WI), Joe (Cyle) Firnrohr (WI), John Firnrohr (WI) and numerous extended family members. 


As a child, Shirley enjoyed tumbling and acrobatics, going to mass, and music (was a first place pianist at Sacred Heart School). She loved swimming and ice skating at beautiful Buhl Park. She was also part of the national championship team of Deb-U-Lettes Marching Baton Corps, taking first place at various county singles twirling competitions, also claiming first place at a state competition in baton strutting. A graduate of Sharon High (Sharon, PA), Shirley was a majorette and member of various school clubs.   


Shirley was employed at Golden Dawn Foods, Inc. in their Advertising Department, Sharon, PA. She was Exec. Development Asst. in Finance & HR & Event Coordinator at Gander Mountain, Inc., WI, and was Corporate Manager of Creative Services Dept.and Special Projects/Events at MPC, Inc. in Walworth, WI, winning many awards. She enhanced her skill levels by completing coursework at the University of Wisconsin. After relocating to Florida, Shirley ventured further into the Human Resources field and worked in the private sector (SunKool Air Conditioning, Inc. in Ocala, FL), followed by government employment at the Workforce Connection - Ocala, FL division, where she held positions in human resources, finance and work candidate placement.


In later years, Shirley enjoyed dancing with her husband, music, and watching movies. Extended road trips to visit family were a regular occurrence, while other travels included riding river rapids in Costa Rica plus trips to Vegas and California. At home, she could be found swimming in her pool or having family cookouts. Shirley developed a keen interest in politics and was a faithful viewer of TRMS. She also enjoyed playing bingo, casino gaming, family picnics and was driven to helping others. Shirley took great joy in giving and often purchased gifts many months in advance. She, herself, was a true gift to all who considered her family or friend. Most of all, Shirley loved and treasured being a wife and mother. A sweet, loving, kind and gentle soul, she will be remembered for her glowing spirit and beautiful smile. Shirley and Ron were due to celebrate their 27th wedding anniversary on December 30th.


Shirley is preceded in death by her father, Anthony (TP) Pollack, brother David, her Godparents George (aka Sparky) and Leta Pollock, niece Laura and great-nephew Frank Jr. Vendemia, as well as other loving extended family members.


Mass will be celebrated in honor of Shirley J. Firnrohr at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Dunnellon, FL on January 12, 2018 at 10:30AM.
