Sheila Lachapelle, age 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by family in St. Cloud, Florida, on Friday January 2, 2026. She was born on July 17, 1949 to Clovis and Dorothy (Boeing) Lachapelle in Norwich, CT. During her lifetime she resided in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Florida.
Sheila graduated from the business program at Plainfield High School, and also from barber school in Hartford, CT. After working alongside her father as a barber in the small town of Wauregan, she settled down and started a family. She had two daughters, Angel and Linette, and loved being a mother above all else. After some time she became employed by Danielson Curtain and advanced to the role of manager. Years later she was hired by Day Kimball Hospital as a transport aide, a position which gave her purpose and much fulfillment. She had a positive impact on every patient she assisted and every person she worked alongside of.
Sheila made friends easily wherever she went, and she loved keeping in touch over the phone. Her faith and her church family were of utmost importance to her. She was generous with her time and resources, welcoming everyone to her table for a delicious meal. If you knew Sheila, you most likely enjoyed her family-famous spaghetti sauce at least once.
Sheila was proud of her accomplishments and she was content in her retirement. She lived life on her terms with no regrets. She is survived by her sisters Roberta (David) Laparle, Cynthia (Joseph) Dileo, and Gail Lachapelle, her daughters Angelique Caouette of Brooklyn, CT, and Linette (husband Raymond) Bennett of St. Cloud, Florida, her grandchildren David Bennett, Daniel (Jill) Rodrigues, Ethan (Kasey) Bennett, Jacob (Rachael) Rodrigues, Matthew (Caitlin) Rodrigues, and Jenna Rodrigues, as well as several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and many close friends.
