Reginald Samuel Letang Jr

Reginald “Reggie” Samuel Letang, Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on April 27, 2025, at the age of 88.

Reggie was born on January 27, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Reginald Letang, Sr. and Bertha (Charboneau) Letang. After graduating from Holy Redeemer High School, he proudly served in the United States Army. Following his service, he began a long and dedicated career as a tool and die maker, retiring from General Motors in 2004.

Reggie married his wife, Debbie Fealko, on July 8, 1988. Together, they shared nearly 37 years of marriage filled with adventure, companionship, and love.

He had a deep passion for horseback riding. He and Debbie owned several horses and spent many joyful years trail riding and camping with close friends through the Hadley Hills and Shiawassee Equestrian Clubs.

Over the years, Reggie developed a strong affection for Florida. What began as winter visits gradually became longer stays—three months, then four, then six—until he and Debbie made Inverness their permanent home in 2020. There, they remained active, kayaking, riding their recumbent bicycles, playing street golf, and embracing their new community.

Reggie was a devoted member of First Lutheran Church, where he served faithfully as an usher and volunteered in the church’s soup kitchen. He found joy in serving meals and offering kindness and conversation to those in need.

He will be remembered for his quiet generosity, steadfast devotion, warm smile, and ready humor. His acts of service and deep care for others left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Reggie is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Debbie; his children, Vicky (Kevin) Henning and Dennis (Katherine) Letang, from his first marriage to the late Patricia (Hammond) Letang; his stepchildren, Paul and Michael; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; and his siblings, Patricia, Donald, Sandra, and Terry.

He will be laid to rest with military honors during a private interment at Bushnell National Cemetery in Florida. A Celebration of Life will be held in Michigan at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Reggie’s memory to First Lutheran Church of Inverness, attention: Soup Kitchen.

He will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
