Rebecca “Becky” Choco of Hernando, Florida died at age 92 on Friday, January 12, 2024. She was born Rebecca Susan Lockard in Salem, Harrison County, West Virginia in August 1931, the first child of the late Alger “Page” Lockard and Mary Jarvis Lockard. She was a 1949 graduate of Salem High School, and a 1968 magna cum laude graduate of Fairmont State College, receiving a B.A. in Education. She married William Howard Marks of Salem in Washington, D.C. on May 19, 1951. Becky was a retired school teacher. She met her second husband, math teacher Alex Choco, while teaching. They were married in 1976. She taught language arts at Palm Harbor Middle school for more than 25 years. She was a devoted mother to her two sons, Mark and Mike, and enjoyed taking them on many adventures when they were young. She loved to read and she had a life-long interest in genealogy. She devoted many years to researching her family history along several lines. She was also very active with gardening and crafts throughout her life. Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Page and Mary Lockard, her first husband, William Marks (d1963), her second husband, Alex Choco (d2021), her sister Roberta Ann “Bobbye” Gill, and her brother-in-law Ransil C. Marks. Surviving are her two sons, Mark William Marks of Hernando and Michael David Marks of Bushnell; two brothers, Sam Lockard (Linda Smith) of Dover, Delaware and William (Lynn) Lockard of Louden, Tennessee; sister-in-law, Dorothea “Jean” Marks of Clearwater; step-son Kenneth (Donna) Choco of Palm Harbor; two grandsons, Colin (Amanda) Marks of Ruskin and Alex Choco of Palm Harbor; and two greatgrandsons, Brock and Brody Marks. She is also survived by a large and loving extended family of many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws from the Lockard, Marks, and Choco families. Becky died after a brief stay in the Citrus Hospice House in Lecanto, Florida. The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful caregivers there: Thank you so much!
