Phillip “Phil” G. Chadwick, born May 18, 1942, in Carbondale, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026, at the age of 83.
Phil was a proud resident of Hernando and spent his life building not only roads and projects through his career, but also friendships and lasting memories with everyone fortunate enough to know him. He dedicated many years to the Operating Engineers Local #12 as a heavy equipment operator and was respected for his hard work, dependability, and strong work ethic.
Phil was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Sarah Chadwick, whom he deeply missed and will now be reunited with. He leaves behind a loving family who will continue to carry his memory forward: his son Phil Chadwick; his son Paul Chadwick and wife Mary; his daughter Sandra Goff and husband George; 13 cherished grandchildren; and multiple great-grandchildren who brought him tremendous pride and joy.
A proud Free Mason and Shriner, Phil believed strongly in helping others and supporting his community whenever he could. He never passed up a good flea market, loved finding a bargain, and had a legendary talent for spotting a deal from a mile away. More than anything, Phil will be remembered for his sarcastic humor, lightning-fast comebacks, and the laughter he brought into every room. His personality was larger than life, and his stories and jokes will continue to be shared for years to come.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Phil’s life on May 10, 2026, beginning at noon at 5015 N. Dewey Way, Hernando, FL 34442. A second celebration will be held at a later date in Colorado, where Phil will be laid to rest beside Sarah.
Though he will be deeply missed, Phil’s family takes comfort in knowing that his humor, generosity, and unforgettable spirit will live on in all who knew and loved him.
