Joseph M. Carter, 80 of Crystal River, FL.
Passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family at Tampa General Hospital, Tampa on March 3, 2026.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Cheryl D. (Prue) Carter. Joseph, known as Joe to all, was born August 8, 1945 in Haverhill, Massachusetts, to William W. and Anna M. (Davichick) Carter.
Educated in Massachusetts, Joseph was a machinist and a tool and die maker.
He retired to Florida from Merrimac, Ma where he was a long-time planning board member.
Joe worked at Walmart in Inverness, enjoying his job assembling bicycles.
One of five sons, he was pre-deceased by William J. and Peter J. Carter.
Survived by Dennis J. (Debra) and John D. Carter.
Joe was a Christian and good friend to many. He loved history, nature, and gardening.
He leaves his beloved two children of his heart, David DiBartolomeo, and Michelle M. McCoy (Robert) also Allan J. Herrick, who was like a son to him.
He leaves four grandchildren, Shaine A. Herrick, Maegan M. Brenner (Rob), Hannah M. Flynn (Austin), Letizia B. DiBartolomeo.
In addition, he also had two great grandchildren, Valeria T. Herrick, and Mia E. Flynn.
Private time of reflection is planned for the family.
