Born on January 6, 1932, in Chickamauga, Georgia, Donald led a life marked by service, resilience, and a deep appreciation for music & fellowship. Donald Avery "Ollie" Oliver, 93, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2025, in Crystal River, Florida.

At the age of 15, Donald enlisted in the United States Army in 1947. His military service included time during the European Occupation in Linz, Austria, and later during the Korean conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1953. During his service, he earned his GED, reflecting his commitment to personal growth.

Following his military career, Donald pursued a varied professional path. He worked as an employment agent, a Life Insurance agent and as a truck driver transporting large equipment—roles that highlighted his strong work ethic and adaptability.

Donald was known for his ability to connect with others. He made friends easily and brought warmth and humor wherever he went. A passionate musician throughout his life, he played guitar and sang with joy that resonated with those around him. He also enjoyed reading, solving crossword puzzles, and playing poker and bingo with friends.

A lifelong Catholic, Donald’s faith remained a guiding presence throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his former wife, Livia Oliver-Vaccaro, and by his daughter Cecilia (Lia) Bush.

He is lovingly remembered by his daughters Charlotte Davis (and her husband Richard), Cynthia Hannenberg (and her husband Jeff), Cheryl Leonard, and Connie Young; sons Donald Oliver II and Paul Oliver (and his wife Jennifer); brother Harry Oliver (and sister-in-law Shirley); as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

May Donald Avery "Ollie" Oliver’s memory bring comfort to those who knew him and serve as a lasting tribute to a life of service, song, and friendship.

A Memorial Service will be held on June 17, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 1:15 PM at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, Fl.
