 Deborah (“Debbi”) Louis-Rice Ishmael, age 66, of Ocala, Florida, passed away late in the evening on December 19, 2023. Born on July 1, 1957, Debbi brought joy and warmth to the lives of those around her, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her. Debbi's vibrant spirit was evident in her love for cooking. A culinary enthusiast, she delighted in crafting exquisite meals and exploring new flavors, igniting a passion for food that her son David carries with him today. Her kitchen was a place of creativity and love, where laughter and the aroma of delicious dishes filled the air. Her infectious sense of humor and unrestrained laughter endeared her to everyone fortunate enough to share in her company. Debbi had a unique ability to find joy in the simplest of moments, and her laughter will echo in the memories of all who were touched by her warmth. Debbi is survived by her devoted husband of 40 years, Hughes (“Bill”) William Ishmael, who stood by her side through thick and thin. She leaves behind her son David William Ishmael and his wife Molly Evonne Ishmael, and their daughter Sophia Mary Ishmael, who brought boundless joy to her grandmother, Mimi's, life. She is also survived by her siblings: brother Vernon Lynwood Gardener, sisters Edith Lee Rice, Cheryl Lynn Nugent, and Sandra Lavonne Martin. Debbi's love and influence will live on through the shared memories and experiences of her family. Debbi had a special place in her heart for her furry companions, Lexi and Luna, who brought her comfort and companionship. Their loyalty and presence provided solace during both joyful and challenging times. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to The Cates House of Ocala, Florida.
